My Personal Journey Using This Approach

In the last decade, I experienced some life-altering changes that I had no choice but to reflect on. In those challenging moments, I had to be honest with myself and acknowledge patterns in almost every area of my life. Through positive and negative experiences, I formed several harmful habits that created a false sense of confidence to protect me from feeling disappointment. It became so functional that I used them to construct various avenues of success. However, these experiences still pulled me from the person I believed myself to be. I found reasons to be unsatisfied with the progress I was making.

Through genuine self-reflection, I discovered my thought patterns and how I was speaking to myself was not a reflection of the life I wanted to live. The false sense of security was a product of not knowing how to control my self-talk patterns that were feeding my internal “narratives”- I felt like I was playing a role to appease anyone who could help me accomplish my goals. Taking that step back revealed I spent too much time engaging on a surface level with myself and others. That became the seed of change.

The experience made me accept that I was unfulfilled due to how my internal thoughts were narrating my life experiences. Subconsciously, I was creating universal bad habits that got in the way of real satisfaction. Acknowledging this psychological journey helped me utilize creative mental exercises to get to the core of those bad habits to correct them. From there, my newly formed patterns to create meaningful goals were represented in the work I was doing with others, and I knew the impact could create change.

The moral of the story: Acknowledging my false narrative was at the core of making poor choices. Accepting that I needed tools to control my internal dialogue made me believe that real change was possible. And now, I am privileged to lead others on a similar journey of genuine fulfillment.
